Yoshiko N. Phillips passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at her home near Laurel surrounded by her family. She was 81. Born on October 17, 1936 in Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Chojun Neha and Masako Henna Neha. Yoshiko was a homemaker and worked the family farm with her husband, Charles, raising chickens. Before coming to America in 1961, Yoshiko was a clerk typist for the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband Charles T. Phillips, 2 daughters - Rachel Gardner (Keith) and Cindy Phillips (Scott); a son - Timothy Phillips; 3 - sisters Katsuko Kanno, Kyoko Kitawaki and Hiroko Goehner; 6 - grandchildren - Kevin Gardner, Stacey Steele (Colby), Christopher Phillips (Abby), Corey Phillips, Cody Belote (Ashley Elliott) and Scottie Richards, Jr.; and 2 - great grandchildren – Brayden and Landon Steele. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 2 brothers – Chosho and Choki Neha. All services will be held privately in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
