Ronald Lee Ross, age 82, of Laurel, passed away on February 26, 2018, at his home. Born in Portsville, Delaware, he is the son of the late Burley and Martha Jean Ross. Ronald proudly served his country in the Army National Guards. He was retired from the Delaware Department of Transportation as an equipment four operator. Ronald was a member of the American Legion Post #28 of Oak Orchard, and a fifty-year member of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department. One of his most cherished memories was coaching his son Jeffrey’s little league games in Laurel. He is survived by his wife Jessie Ratcliffe Ross of Laurel; his son, Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey Ross United States Navy and his wife Tricia currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan; daughters, Debbie Phillips and her husband Glenn, Sr., and Teresa Reed all of Laurel; step-children, Raymond Peters, Teresa Frye both of Laurel, and Lisa White of York, PA; a brother, Bruce G. Ross and his wife Joanne of Delmar, Maryland; grandchildren, Glenn Phillips, Jr., Shawn Phillips, Lindie Ross, Kailie Ross, Gavin Ross, and Taryn Ross; great grandchildren; Riley Phillips, and Layla Phillips. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Jean R. Ross, whom passed away in 1998, and his sister Patricia R. Waller, whom passed away in 2014. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 1-2 pm. Pastor Bill Nack and Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel.
