January 17, 1936 - February 25, 2021
Marjorie Johnson Kelly, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Marjorie was born in Smyrna, DE, on January 17, 1936, to Harry C. And Gladys L. Johnson. She graduated from Smyrna High School in 1954, Goldey-Beacom College in 1956 and from Wilmington College in 1995. As a young lady living in Wilmington, she enjoyed road rallies in her Corvette. She married her husband, Roland Kelly, in 1964, and moved to Seaford that year. Marjorie had an interesting work history that spanned Delaware’s three counties, which included: Executive Secretary for the Treasurer at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Secretary to Governor Caleb Boggs, Owner of a Merle Norman Studio in Seaford, Church Secretary, and Human Resources Director at Turnabout Counseling Center in Seaford and Georgetown. She spent many years after retirement helping with homeschooling her grandchildren. Marjorie had a deep and abiding love for her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. She spent a great deal of time in prayer and leading the prayer ministry at her church. So many things (her family, crosswords, coffee, and ice cream) brought her joy; but perhaps the most defining thing about Marjorie is that her greatest satisfaction came from seeing other people become more fully themselves. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Gladys Johnson and her sister, Ruth Knotts. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland Kelly, son RW Kelly (Karen) and daughter Carla Linder (Scott), grandchildren: Kenny Kelly (Jen), Ryan Kelly (Kari), Ethan Linder (Sarah), Emma and Ellie Linder, great grandchildren: Aiden Kelly, Gavin Kelly, Brynlee Kelly, Hayden Kelly, Ezra Linder, Isaiah Linder, Teagan Kelly and Jack Linder. Funeral services will be held at Laurel Wesleyan Church 30186 Seaford Hwy, Laurel, DE, on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm, a viewing will also be held from 12:00-1:00 pm. The Pastor Scott Conn will officiate, interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
