Karen "June Bug" Stone

May 19, 1959 - February 24, 2022

Karen "June Bug" Stone, age 62, of Seaford and Norfolk VA, passed away on February 24, 2022 at Tidal Health P.R.M.C. in Salisbury, Maryland. Born in Nashville, TN. she is the daughter of the late Robert Marion Stone and survived by her mother, Lelia Y. Stone of Seaford. Karen retired from Norfolk Community Service Board in Emergency Services, having worked with them for over 30 years. Karen graduated in 1977 from Seaford High School and received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Old Dominion University. Karen had many enjoyments in life, such as riding her bike, taking walks in nature and spending quality time with family and friends. She moved to Delaware after her retirement in 2020 to help take care of her mother, and she truly enjoyed being able to care and spend quality time with her. Karen is survived by her mother, Lelia Y. Stone of Seaford; sister, Diana Stone of Norfolk, stepmother, Carole Stone of Columbia, SC., life partner, Melanie Viquez of Vienna, Virginia; life-time friend Larry Anselmi and his daughter Sheyenne, special friends, Kathy Kennedy of Seaford, Kim and Jack Wiley of Georgetown, Violet Moore, and Linda Hepner; and her furbaby "Honeybear". In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her furbaby Roxie. There are really a slew of friends too numerous to list, as one friend said, "a lot of people loved the bug". A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956. Pastor Barry Seacrest will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel, Delaware.
