On many occasions, he would help Kenny with fixing mechanical issues and answering questions at a moment's notice. He also took great pride in teaching Kenny and his coworkers various aspects of the sprinkler fitting industry. Kohly was very proud of his son, Kenny and his daughter, Erika, and always supported their dreams. He was coined a "protector", and was even known to sit in the parking lot after Erika's work shifts ended, ensuring she made it back to her car safely. Kenny and Erika both have fond memories with their dad growing up and thought of him as a wonderful provider.
