Carole McCrea

January 30, 1939 - February 26, 2022

Carole McCrea, age 83, of Laurel, passed away on February 26, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware on January 30, 1939. Carole was retired from the West Laurel Elementary School as a secretary. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society "Red Hatter", Laurel Lioness Club, served Laurel as a formal Counsil member, and loved to volunteer at the Good Samaritan Shop. Carole loved the beach, vacationing with her family and keeping up with her friends and family on her Ipad. She is survived by her son, H. Michael McCrea and his wife Mary Ellen of Laurel; daughter, Kelly McCrea and her spouse Janet Kollmann of Ardmore, PA; and Susan Hastings and her husband John Michael Hastings of Laurel, De; special sibling, Kenneth Wheatley and his wife Linda of Lincoln; grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, Kyle, Annelle, Megan, Zachary, Bethany, Marcus, Erin; great grandchildren, Gavyn, Morgan, Ryan, Hadley, Lyra, and Braylon, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her former husband and the father of their children Howard McCrea. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Dean Perdue will officiate. Interment will be held privately. The family would like everyone attending to wear something bright and cheerful to honor Carole.
